Random Acts of Kindness

There is nothing that makes a person feel better than when she/he is surprised by a kind act for no reason.  Every year, a few times, I am surprised with a delivery of flowers.  They usually come on my anniversary and Mother’s Day.  The card usually has some encouraging words and is always signed with my children’s names.  Now I KNOW it is not the doing of my children and that it is not family.  But what I do know is that it truly makes me smile and helps me remember that there are truly kind and self-less people in the world.

I have been blessed with so many incredible people who have done so much for me and my children that I have made a point to do the same. I make it a point to pay it forward as often as I can. It can be as simple as taking the shopping cart and putting it back for someone who just loaded their car to paying for someone’s coffee when I go through the Dunkin’ Donuts’ drive thru.  Sending a card to a friend just because or helping with carpooling.  With my loyal customers, I pick up the shipping or personalization on a product or I may extend a hostess exclusive that no one was taking advantage of from a party.  I don’t do this for any recognition. I simply do this because I want someone else to feel the same joy.  It truly makes me feel happy to make someone else’s day a little better.

So my challenge to you is to do a random act of kindness this week.  I guarantee it will take the winter blahs away and make your day more than the person who receives it.
